- Janazah Certification Workshop; Saturday, July 19th, 10:30am-6:30pm
- Ramadan Prep Class; Saturday, August 9th, 10:30am-6:30pm
- Zakah Workshop; Saturday, Sept 6th, 9:00am-12:30pm
Note: Ramadan is approximately Sept 1st – Oct 1st, 2008.
Descriptions of each class follow.
Janazah Workshop
This class will cover in depth the details of death in Islam, preparations for the funeral, the proper burial and shrouding of the dead and other topics such as preparing a wasiyyah (a will).
A Certificate of Competency will be presented upon successful completion of written test and practical exam, and qualifies one to assist with janazah preparations (washing and shrouding). Those who receive certification will be on-call after a death and able to help with the janazah.
The class is free. It will be led by Br. Safi Khan, Imam of Dar-us-Salaam. Janazah kits will be available for purchase for $60. To register, please email: janazah at LearnAboutIslam.org. Registration is required.
If you have questions in mind already, please submit them in advance when you register so we can do our best to cover them in class.

Get the most out of Ramadhaan this year! Join us on Saturday, August 9th for a special session, Preparing for Ramadhaan. Learn the essentials for a fulfilling and beneficial Ramadhaan. Refresh your knowledge of what to do & what to avoid, and learn tips for enriching your Ramadhaan.
Zakah Workshop
“I want to pay my zakah, but I’m not sure how to calculate it.” Does this sound familiar? If so then join our informative Zakah Workshop on Saturday, Sept 6th. Led by Imam Safi Khan, we will guide you step-by-step through calculating your financial obligation. We will address as many questions as possible during the workshop, at each step along the way. However, if you already have questions, please submit them in advance so we can research them. Please write “Zakah Question” in the subject line.
