2) Beltsville Pro-Decency March: Saturday, October 25th, 1:45pm-4pm

Join a pro-decency march organized by the Maryland Coalition Against Pornography (MCAP), a 22-year-old non-profit organization, as part of the annual Anti-Pornography Awareness Week and the WRAP (White Ribbons Against Pornography) campaign. On Oct. 25th, 2-4 pm, we will be doing a pro-decency march on a curbside near an “adult” x-rated Wholesale Lingerie store on Route 1 near Powder Mill Rd. that is in violation of the Prince George’s County code.

Everyone should meet in the parking lot of St. John’s Episcopal Church (corner of U.S. Route 1 and Powder Mill Rd. across Powder Mill Rd. from the CVS store) at 1:45 pm.  For those who wish to wear them, we have royal blue short-sleeve t-shirts that say “White Ribbons Against Pornography.”

We will take our placards and signs then and walk over 1 block north to the sidewalk across Harford Rd.  The march will take place from 2-4 pm.  There will be some literature we can offer people, explaining who MCAP is, noting our web site as an Internet resource with much more information.  A card table will also be put out with copies of some other information that is intended to help those struggling with porn temptation or addiction.

MCAP has written to the PG County State’s Attorney, Glenn Ivey, asking why the existing zoning ordinances are not being enforced about this store’s close proximity to residences and a church, and its 24/7 hours of operation.  So far, no reply.  Councilman Thomas Denorga has been in correspondence with us, and says the current code is unenforceable, and needs a legislative correction.  It’s unclear what about the existing code is unenforceable.  Unless people keep urging action, it is unlikely anything will be done.
